Potter Stone Company
Pottery is my relaxation, my opening to a world where rules do not apply and
creativity takes hold.
I was introduced to a potter’s wheel when I was fourteen; it quickly became
part of my identity. From the beginning, the challenge of taking a mere lump of clay
and turning it in to a functional- usable piece, amazed me. Over the years this
amazement has lead me to college, University of Rio Grande, where I received a full
tuition scholarship for my craft and most recently into teaching art at the Middle
school level.
Through the years I have toyed with other mediums: sculpting- painting-
drawing-screen printing but the feeling was never the same. When I need a break
from reality I sit down at my wheel and the world is at my finger tips.
My pottery is functional, however functional does not mean bland as the
artistic qualities coming through my combination of form, glazes, and firing
techniques. Functionality is key as I want my pieces to be used in everyday life so
that art can touch someone else’s life as it has mine.
